• Good or bad?

If you ask someone if they think you're good at tennis, and they say you've got a good backhand/serve but your forehand is getting there, does that mean yes or no lol?

Best answer: My daughter played volleyball, which is a different sport but still requires energy over a period of 3 sets. She used to drink a milkshake about a half hour before her games. I'm new to tennis and I am right handed, but my coach looked at my racket and asked me why I had a left hand racket if i'm right handed.

  • I m scared to try out for tennis, should I?

Best answer: I would find out if the coach is running a No-Cut program, or, if he/she will be eliminating some of the players who try out. This is a key point for you to consider. If you have never had tennis lessons before, here are some links to help you find a teaching pro: http://www.uspta.com/... show more

I would get a copy of either "Rules of Tennis," or the more thorough "Friend at Court" from the USTA:
    https://www.ustashop.com/manufacturer/148/usta

Both books above have the official ITF Rules of Tennis, as well as "The Code." I hope you read The Code, because if you always play by The Code, you will stay out of trouble and learn how to deal with problems that come up from time to time.

Winning is nothing, losing is nothing, sportsmanship is everything. It's OK to have a bad day hitting the ball, but it is *not* OK to cheat, use gamesmanship, berate other players, etc. If someone gives you a rough time related to your beginning skill level, tell the coach. Verbal abuse is against the rules.

It is a *skill sport,* sort of like chess, karate, stuff like that. Doubles is usually less intense than singles, but singles can be very satisfying.

Best of luck, hope you have some fun and work hard to become the strongest player you can be.

  • Can you see anyone beating Nadal at the French Open?

Best answer: He will win number 11. Roger may skip the clay again, just like last year. He will try to get ready for the grass season. So Rafa will have no competition. His biggest problem will be staying healthy.

  • Tennis question?! Only people that know about Tennis history please?

So I've started watching tennis over the past few years so I don't know much really, but I want to expand my knowledge. Mainly, how has the way that tennis is played changed over each decade/era? For example more or less power, speed, finesse shots, baseline positioning, etc.

  • Since Djokovic is Heyon Chung's idol, was his retirement from the semifinals a move straight out of Djokovic's playbook?

Best answer: It's all too easy to say aaah he's losing, retire but he had a bad blister on his foot which is darned painful and this is only the start of a long season. Why risk a severe injury when his pay to date, would be high!! Next time he needs to have better footwear, maybe. Bit of a let-down for the crowd... show more

Best answer: Part of it is the fact that she's not built like a prototypical tennis player; she brought strength and power to the game unlike anything previously seen. The fact that she's African-American in a sport that has, at best, had an awkward relationship to blacks doesn't help. She's made some interesting choices as to attire during tournaments that haven't been universally loved. Her father is a reprehensible piece of garbage in a sport known for awful parents. Having said that, Serena Williams belongs on the short list of greatest female tennis players. Period.
