  • How do you feel about Manny Machado going to the padres?

Ofc, we've seen times before that just because you have 10 top 100 prospects, that doesn't mean their dominance in the minor leagues carries over to the big leagues.

Either way, I think Manny exorcises his opt out clause. Maybe he thinks he can get a better contract ... or San Diego can't trade him and he just wants out of a situation like the Texas Rangers had in the early 2000's with A-Rod's contract.

It's a combination of a couple different factors:

Ownership willing to do what's necessary to win.

Good managers (other than Bobby Valentine).

Great free agent selections (Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Curt Schilling, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett, JD Martinez, Chris Sale, David Price etc)

Joe Ricketts, the patriarch of the family that owns Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs, apologized on Tuesday after an online publication uncovered a series of past emails sent from his account that were racist and Islamophobic. In some of the emails published by Splinter News on Monday, Ricketts and others can be seen discussing conspiracy theories about former President Obama’s birthplace and religion while making Islamophobic remarks such as, "Islam is a cult and not a religion." In a statement to The Chicago Tribune on Tuesday, Ricketts said that he deeply regrets the exchanges in the emails. n one of the exchanges uncovered by Splinter News, Ricketts accuses Obama of "hiding something in his past that is very bad," including claiming that the former president "lied his way into Harvard" and told "the Saudi royal family he was fighting in Afghanistan with the Muslim Jihad against the Russians, so they would help him get into a law school." Other emails revealed show Ricketts referred to Islam as a threat to modern civilization and describe the religion as a "cult." "I’m giving some consideration to having a book written with the title 'Islam, Religion or Cult'. It would describe many things about Islam but most importantly describe and define where Islam crosses the line from religion to a cult," Ricketts also wrote in 2012, according to Splinter News.

Best answer: Yes he will, and I don't know or understand why you or anyone else thinks that these accusations-IF PROVEN TRUE, and that's a big if, would keep him from getting into the baseball HOF.

The hustle and bustle of city life often involved crossing busy city streets and avoiding getting hit by cars, taxis and street cars. There was a street car line right outside Ebetts Field and fans on the way to the game would dodge the street cars to reach the stadium. At the time the teams official name was the Robins. The teams nickname was the Dodgers for many years before it became the official team name in 1932.

  • Is Manny Machado worth $300M?

This reeks of A Rod's 10 year contract with Texas, only Machado will deliver nowhere close to his level of play. I guess Ron Fowler is already using his taxbreak money to spruce this offseason.

  • Is the fact the spring training is too long a factor in players not being signed at the start of spring training?

Best answer: Look up Greg Holland. He didn’t sign until after the season started. Assigned to the minors to get into pitching shape. Come up to the major and sucked for several months. After he was traded then he started being good again. If he had shown up for spring training, he might have been good for the first 4 months... show more

After he was traded then he started being good again.

If he had shown up for spring training, he might have been good for the first 4 months instead of sucking.

Players are not signing because teams aren’t handing out the contracts that the players think they should get. No teams want to hand out 30 million a year to a player that’s in his mid to late 30s. You think the angels regret paying Pujols 20+ million fir his age 35-40.
