He spent the 2016-2017 seasons in the minors, hitting a combined .204 with 38 homers and 128 RBI in 241 games. Singleton failed a drug test last winter and was serving a 100 game suspension when Houston cut him loose. He made $714,286 per homer with the Astros. Do you see another team signing him at that bargain rate?

  • What do you think of Jim Kaat's proposal to reduce the length of MLB games to just 7 innings?

Best answer: For Little League and high school games it's not bad because most teams only have around 4-5 pitchers (I'm currently a senior in high school and we have never had more than 4 guys pitch regularly over a full season but there are 3 others who have pitched in blowouts). Best answer: For Little League and high school games it's not bad because most teams only have around 4-5 pitchers (I'm currently a senior in high school and we have never had more than 4 guys pitch regularly over a full season but there are 3 others who have pitched in blowouts). For the MLB, no. It would be too much of a change from what has happened in the past.

In fact, the 2015 World Series would have had the opposite outcome if it was played with 7 inning games.
Game 1: Royals win 5-4 in 14 innings (Mets would have won 4-3 in 8 innings)
Game 2: Royals win 7-1 (Royals would have won 4-1 in 7 innings)
Game 3: Mets win 9-3 (Mets would have won 9-3 in 7 innings)
Game 4: Royals win 5-3 (Mets would have won 3-2 in 7 innings)
Game 5: Royals win 7-2 in 12 innings (Mets would have won 2-0 in 7 innings)

For reference, our games are 7 innings and they're normally between an hour and 45 minutes and 2 hours for a close, low-scoring game. Our 3 longest games have been (about) 2 hours 30 minutes (12-6 in 7 innings), 2 hours 15 minutes (14-2, called after 6 innings because of the mercy rule), and 2 hours, 10 minutes (12-7, called after 5 1/2 innings due to weather).

  • How long is an average MLB baseball game not counting the commercials?

Best answer: The time between innings is now 2:25 for locally televised games and 2:45 for nationally televised games. Right now an average 9 inning game runs 3 hours so you'll knock about 22:45 off that time if you eliminate the break in a locally televised game, and 24:45 for nationally televised games. So you're looking at a minimum of 2 hours, 37 minutes of game action. You can probably cut that by fast-forwarding through mound visits and pitching changes but my guess it will still take about 2.5 hours to watch a 9 inning game.

  • Can a runner at third base tagging up on a fly ball get a running start?

Can a runner go behind 3rd bsse, down the left field line, start running before the ball is caught, touch third as the ball is caught, and continue home? I have never seen anyone do this. Do the rules allow it?

  • True or false: ALL the Cubs hitters need to step up their performance on offense.?

The main problem with the Cubs hitters is that they're not being aggressive enough at the plate, and because of this, they're constantly striking out and leaving too many runners on base in scoring position and blaming the crap out of themselves for failing to execute on offense, and that needs to change.... show more
