  • Atheists, why do you believe in Halloween?

Best answer: It is a celebration that exists, if that's what you're asking. But, the ghosts aren't real. It is just for fun.

I’m 14 (freshman in high school) and really want to go trick or treating. I’m going to be odile from swan lake and have already worked a lot on my costume. I called a few friends a few days ago to ask if they wanted to go with me and all but one of them laughed at me and said I was too old. I cried a lot after that since Halloween has always been my favorite holiday but my age seems to ruin everything, I can’t become a professional ballet dancer and now I can’t go trick or treating? Anyways though, I was just wondering if I’m too old or if it would be weird if I went trick or treating alone or with my mom. I have very bad anxiety and am terrified of being judged. Thanks a ton

  • Since I live in a candy free home, is it alright to give kids an apple for trick or treating instead of candy or no?

Best answer: Just give them cheese and cracker packs, dippers, nuts/fruit trail mixes, flavored chips, toys or even money. I used to pop quarters, pencils, erasers and little trinkets in the bags with the treats. Sadly, I have not gotten any kids where I live in about five years. All the treats will be mine again this year.

  • Why can't adults go trick or treating?

Best answer: Who said they can't? We have noticed just as many parents dressed up and begging for candy as the young ones. We used to go mall walking by day while kids were in school. No problems with tripping on one in the halls. We don't need the candy so much, but we got some. It's all just some silly fun time... show more

  • Christians, would you let your children dress up for Halloween and go trick or treating? How do you feel about Halloween?

Best answer: A couple weeks ago I overheard some mother berating her kids for some reason loudly in a store. Could tell she wasn't exactly mother of the year. Apparently her kids are not allowed to go trick or treating and she was going on about how she buys them candy to put in a bucket for them to have, as if it was so... show more
Best answer: A couple weeks ago I overheard some mother berating her kids for some reason loudly in a store. Could tell she wasn't exactly mother of the year. Apparently her kids are not allowed to go trick or treating and she was going on about how she buys them candy to put in a bucket for them to have, as if it was so big of her to allow her apparently ungrateful kids to get that...when it is probably is less about the candy and actually getting to do the fun childhood things all the other kids they know are allowed to do, but for some reason they're forbidden. Had a strong feeling that these kids didn't really even understand why they weren't allowed or why their mother would be having a tantrum over it. They were not even behaving badly in the store. I guess they probably just begged one too many times to be allowed...

Really... don't be that parent. Costumes and candy from people you know is harmless. If you don't want them going to homes you aren't familiar with, then don't, stick to those you know. If you want to set rules on what kinds of costumes are okay (like if you just want cute stuff instead of scary), sure, why not.
