• Do you thumbs up your own answers?

Best answer: I do sometimes, but I usually wait until somebody else does first. I'm not sure why but that's what I do. The really puzzling thing for me is why does Yahoo even allow that? Every other interactive site that I know of doesn't.

Best answer: First up, note that it's not Yahoo that deletes questions. Yahoo Answers is a community moderated website. This means other users "decide" what gets deleted though them reporting content. Whether or not it is deleted upon reporting depends on your trust level. Someone with a high trust level can remove content with just their report. Others with low to average influence will need others to report with them to knock something down. There's no fixed number of users needed to report posts which result in deletions. It may be 1, 2, 3 or a lot more. Nobody reads reports unless an appeal is submitted. Since you did not post the reported question in the description, there's no way to make a judgement if you really were in violation or you weren't. Also, you should report violations as and when you see them.

Note that false and malicious reporting may happen. Being someone who sometimes answers in LGBT, I know that it can get really heated because of clashing opinions (Religion and Politics being the other 2 most heated sections). Some people are so juvenile and spiteful that they will go as low as to report someone just because they have a different opinion to them. It may be that the reporter doesn't like you or your questions, doesn't agree with them or is just out to cause trouble without targeting anyone in particular, which is quite honestly very childish.

You should have been sent a Report Notice (RN) in your e-mail if you've selected the option to receive these things. That RN will have a link where you can appeal your deleted question. Have a quick read of the Community Guidelines (CG) and/or Terms of Service (TOS) before making an appeal, or else you'll get docked an extra 10 points for each wrong appeal that you make. After reading the CG and TOS, if you find that you clearly were NOT in violation, then you can appeal the deletions in the link given in your Report Notice. Hope this was of some help and made sense :)

  • What does this email from Yahoo mean?

By creating and using your Yahoo! account, you agree to abide by Yahoo!'s Terms of Service (TOS). Pursuant to the TOS, Yahoo! reserves the right to terminate your account or otherwise prohibit use of your account in the event that, among other things, Yahoo! believes that you have violated or acted inconsistently with the letter or spirit of the TOS. It has come to our attention that you may have violated the TOS(http://www.yahoo.com/r/ts) on Yahoo! News. Please reread the TOS and cease any use of your account that may violate the TOS. If your use of your Yahoo! account is brought to our attention again, and we believe that such use violates the TOS, then we may terminate your account without further notice. Does this mean that I did something with Yahoo News? The only thing I do with Yahoo is use Flickr, and use YA. I don't even use Yahoo's email for anything other than to sign into my account here. I rarely read Yahoo news and when I do, I never comment. Am I not even allowed to click the articles? Is this why over 350 of my answers were suddenly deleted recently after 8 months of inactivity here? Seriously, I hadn't been on here in 8 months and then all of a sudden all of my old answers are all getting reported. And I don't point game or troll so I don't know what's going on.

  • I just got 7 of my answers reported but no violation email sent. Not even for 1 of the 7. Why is this?

I noticed that I had 7 answers less than I did an hour ago and that I'm 70 points down. Thing is I did not get a single email telling me that I have had answers deleted. Can't remember which ones either. Bottom line is that I have no option to appeal. How much will so many violations at once impact my... show more

How many times do I need to get reported before I lose my account?

  • I answered the following sum on Yahoo answers. Find x if - 2x-8/3 = 4-x This question may could mean [ 2x minus 8 by 3 = 4 minus x ]?

Best answer: I was reported for an answer once, quite a long time ago. The question and answer were both forgettable, certainly not controversial. I seem to recall being told that my response was in some way inappropriate, although it was nothing but a simple algebraic solution. Since they gave me the option, I appealed. My answer was not restored, and I never heard again about the appeal.

It is one thing for people invest their own time to pursue a hobby. For Yahoo to give even cursory consideration to the appeal would require the attention of some paid Yahoo employee or consultant. I see no incentive. I do, however, see a good reason to lead people to believe that their appeal is being considered. By the time they realize that no action is being taken, they will have forgotten about it.

My guess is that you and I were rung up for the same reason. Someone was simply clicking options to see what would happen.

  • How to get question answered by someone?

Best answer: By asking one and waiting for answers, try asking it in a broad category, don't go too specific, that can put people off answering
