Could probably buy lard from a local shop, but can't get to a wildlife centre to buy bird seed or anything. Is there anything I can make with these kinds of ingredients? Thanks!

  • Is there any fairly cheap veterinarian that takes in birds (parakeet) in or around Los Angeles?

Best answer: Look for an AVIAN vet, not all vets have bird training. Contact the local zoo to ask who they use. Parakeets have 2 common foot issues, and this is one of them.

The video here gives specific options -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQhxzfnV...

You would need to decide whether the job is likely to last, if you would get another of equal demands if it doesn't, the time school takes, AND if you have time to clean the cage even if you got him a friend. You could wait a bit, but really, do what is best, overall, for you and the bird.

Maybe your sister would like him?

Every year we have hundreds of sparrows, dove, finches, blackbirds, crows, a few hawks and falcons, and other birds flying around, making nests etc., around my desert home in New Mexico. And every year, the sparrows make their nests in my vents on my roof. The worst one is our heater, which causes major issues for us. So this year, after the crazy weather seemed to come to an acceptable end (we have had terrible winds and freezing weather of and on still) we decided to get up there and clear any attempted nesting that had started, and screen it up better. Well, for the heater vent, he was too late and there was a full nest with 4 eggs inside. Before he even told me, he took the nest out with the eggs in it and was checking them out, handling then etc. I was mortified! But told him to give me the nest and the eggs. We don't have any tall trees or anywhere safe we could put the nest, and since we had handled then so much, I'm sure mom's would have just killed them. So I decided I was going to attempt to help them, worst case, they don't make it, best case, I'm going to be a busy Mommy for a little while.I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right and giving these little guys their best shot. So I have them in their nest, in a box, with heat lamps, some blankets, a thermometer used for hydro growing so it has humidity etc, I have a small glass of water in there, and a stuffed animal. I'm turning them and checking them under light in my phone. Am I missing anything?

  • My parrot chewed open a battery he is a alexandrine parrot and is a year old what do I do?

Best answer: Nothing, but keep an eye on it. Those birds will chew on anything and everything. If it shows signs of becoming sick then I see a Vet.

  • Do parrots like childern?

Best answer: I suppose as long as the children do not tease it or abuse it in any way. But...I don't recommend them as they are a big bird and can do damage with that beak if not handled properly.

Best answer: The term bald means a white colored area. Like a Pie Bald Horse would be a horse with almost an all white head and dark colored body. It doesn't mean a bald as in no hair or feathers.
