Best answer: The only cards that are better than the GTX 1080ti are the
Titan Xp and the Titan V
The original Titan X Pascal, which is different from the Titan Xp, is a tiny bit slower than the GTX 1080ti.
Usually it makes more sense to buy an overclocked GTX 1080ti like the EVGA FTW3 because those are close to, or match the Titan Xp. The normal price for a card like the FTW3 or the Asus Strix was about $800-850, which made it a better deal than a $1200 Titan Xp. With retailers charging $1100 for these higher end GTX 1080ti cards, you might as well step up and buy the Titan Xp. The only drawback to the Titan Xp is the Founder's Edition cooler is rather poor.
The Titan V on the other hand is using the newer Volta architecture and with 12gb or HBM2 memory, the GTX 1080ti or Titan Xp can't compare to the Titan V. The only saving grace here is the Titan V costs $3000 and all you're getting is 30% more performance over the GTX 1080ti.
The reason the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080ti are priced so high is because ZCash miners wiped out the stock of these cards between January to early March. About a month ago, the ROI for these miners increased to levels that make it difficult for these miners to make their money back.
