So I got this very strange email from someone saying they hacked into my phone, took all of my contacts, and took a video of me from my phone watching porn. Well he said if I didn’t send him $800 in bitcoin within 3 days he was going to send that video to all of my contacts. And he provided a link, which I did NOT click, and I deleted the email. And I’m thinking a few things, 1) this is probably more just a hacker trying to scare me and they actually don’t have access to my phone. 2) Apple would have probably caught on by now if my information was copied and told me about it. Regardless it’s pretty freaky, and I was wondering if it is possible he could have hacked my phone. (iPhone 8, just now updated to the newest version to ensure strong security)

I have an apple mac mini and also a Windows desktop computer. I would probably get an apple laptop in the near future. The thing I cannot understand, is why apple users only have apple computers. I'm not sure if they have it out of innocence with them just not knowing about any other type of computer or grew up using an apple, or just live in a community which they don't think of or know any other computer other than that. There is this one area where we live that is considered a 'snob town' by everybody, been there and the peopel would snub you talk down to you bully you over the way you are. Any way this snob town, nobody there has Windows computer. They all in long continuous string use Macs. You know I have a Mac also, but I am opened to other computers. It seems like Apple users are 'stuck' on their brand, Why?

I am 17 and my mum thinks its appropriate for her to control my wifi access through the modem so it cuts off at 7:30 every night and for two hours during the day. I believe this is absolutely ridiculous and does anybody know how I can bypass this?

Best answer: If you are using WPA2 encryption on your WiFi, change the pass phrase and pick a good long random sequence of characters including letters, numbers, punctuation and other symbols on the keyboard.

Disable WPS and UPnP in the router.

On any Windows 10 PCs, disable the stupid facility to tell your contacts the credentials of your WiFi network(s).

Make sure there are no trojans on your computers that are sending information to the enemy. I count Windows 10 as a potential trojan.

Check what MAC addresses are connecting to your network. These should be listed in the router's network pages and possibly its log files. The first half of the MAC address will indicate the type of network chip and possibly the type of device that is connecting.

Use MAC address white list or black list filtering in the router to allow only your devices or block alien devices.

Turn off the WiFi network during the night. many routers include settings to do this automatically.

Make sure there is no port forwarding configured in the router that is allowing access that way rather than by WiFi. Also make sure the DMZ and remote management of the router are disabled.

Is the NR676 controlled using infrared, WiFi or Bluetooth. If it is IR, then it is possible that a neighbour may be triggering your unit unintentionally when they control their unit. If it is Bluetooth, could a second controller be paired with your unit?

Finally, although I mentioned it first, changing the WiFi pass phrase should be done as a last step if WiFi is the source of the control. However, if a good random pass phrase does not stop the problem, I would be inclined to suspect IR. Bluetooth should not normally be an issue as most systems require authorisation of some sort to allow pairing to take place.

    I hope this helps.

However, if you are that deetermined, are you talking about an OS password, or one in the BIOS (befoore the boot process even starts)? If it's in the OS, there are boot disks you can DL that will reset it (but be advised if there are any files there encryped to the user account, they most likely will never be accessable again), if it's in before the boot process starts, that can be reset as well, but is likely to involve removing the cover, you will need the exact model to search for, but it's nothing hidden...Normally it just involves shorted two pins together with a jumper, but you need to know what ones, that's why you need the model to find it, they are not all the same.
