Best answer: Pretty much everything is now archived as digital files so there is no need to handle physical media.

When tapes were used they were different format to domestic "compact cassette" types. Broadcast machines used larger and more rugged tape cartridges [NAB cartridge] for short pieces like jingles and probably DAT for music pieces.

Standard CDs have been used almost since they were first introduced, but less and less so over the last couple of decades as hard drive storage for vast amounts of high quality music has become practical and simpler to handle.

The only difference with the CDs is licence condition; the stations pay to allow them to broadcast while a consumer purchase does not allow public play.

Best answer: Earbuds will not affect on the connection to listen to music, those are two completely different things.

Please use LEGAL buy-a-download resources similar to iTunes or Amazon!

Please keep in mind that you can download/share only copyright-free material for free, unless the copyright owners allow free downloading/sharing of their material. ALL sites and resources that provide COPYRIGHTED material to be downloaded/shared for free, but WITHOUT permission from the copyright owners are equally ILLEGAL! So, unless you are about to download copyright-free material, please start using legal buy-a-download resources ONLY. Having no money/credit card is NEVER an excuse to STEAL anything anyway, so there is a very good reason why all the ILLEGAL sites/resources are being shut down and their users being sued for illegal downloading. It is also the reason why there is NO direct download button available on YouTube. NOT all in music business are super rich, besides, all the studio engineers, backing vocalists, instrumentalists etc. DO deserve to get paid for the sheer hard work they do in order to make the music for us. I very much doubt YOU would work for 30+ years without getting paid either.

  • Why would anyone buy on-ear headphones instead of over-ear headphones besides the price?

Best answer: I buy on ear headphones for running. they are cooler - over the ear are like ear muffs. may be good when its cold. I think its a plus to get some ambient sounds. I may hear the dog or car coming up behind me.

http://1stopretroshop.com/item-pages/spe... Here's a link to the exact kind of speakers I got, but the ones I got are from a thrift store and the cord seems to be finicky with connecting and playing sound. I was thinking to upgrade the wires as they seem to be the problem (including the audio jack), and I really like the sound quality the speakers produce but it's a little annoying when one speaker plays, or neither are on and I can still hear music faintly. I don't know HOW to upgrade them, and I don't want to go and get wires and then start a fire considering these things are 38 years old and might blow out or something if I connect them to 21st century power and tech without doing a full upgrade on the inside as well.

I haven't used it in a little while so I was thinking maybe it has some dust in the input but even after I blew some dust out it keeps on doing it. It used to do this a lot so that's why I stopped using it until I tried again recently. Do you think this is a problem with the amp or maybe the lead I'm using? All bends should be as wide and round as possible.
Most headphones have very tiny wires that are incredibly easy to break,
and this is true not only of poor-quality ones but even some of the best.

    >> Breaks happen Inside the insulation. You usually can't see that a wire has broken.

    2. Never stretch or pull on wires. Avoid any sudden jerking that can strain them.

    3. When you wind the wires up, do it slowly and carefully and make a loose loop at least 3 inches in diameter.

    4. Never play with the wires, such as wrapping them around fingers or twirling them in the air.
(It's amazing to see how many Idiots do this!)

    5. Keep the wires from becoming tangled to protect them from most of the dangers mentioned above.

Best answer: The turntable has two "main" components" that make it work.

    The actual turntable which spins at a selected speed to spin the record;
    The needle and tone-arm assembly.

The record has a groove that vibrates the needle when the record is spinning and the needed is place on the record. The pickup holds the needle, gets the vibrations and converts the vibrations to electronic impulses. This is not much different from the way a microphone diaphragm vibrates, picks up audio and converts the vibration to electronic impulses.

Merely plugging the turntable (or mic) into speakers won't work. The electronic impulses need to be amplified... so an amplifier needs to be inserted between the turntable (or mic) and the speakers.

At home, commonly, a receiver has a built-in amplifier and is used as it typically has inputs for phone (phonograph - turntable) and others (cassette, TV/home theater audio, etc.) and can also receive AM and FM radio broadcasts.

While less common, use of a separate amplifier with a separate tuner for AM/FM + turntable, cassette and other audio sources is how I set mine up.

Step 1: Set a budget. "Affordable" start at about $300 (receivers or amps + speakers). There are lots that are less and lots that are more. How much you spend depends on how picky you are about your audio and your budget.
