Best answer: Generally English Anglo-Saxons are defined as a germanic cultural group that occupied the Island of Great Britain. Most of the people who organized the Government of the Colonies and the independence rebellion were English subjects of Anglo (English)-Saxon descent. Many others immigrants were Saxon (German:Sachsen), germanic people who had not migrated to the Islands, which would be mostly German and Dutch. So when you say Anglo-Saxon you are combining the names of two germanic tribes.

But you say "Technically"? The study of ethnicity is subjective, every organization has there own definition to fit their own purposes. If you are trying to answer a school assigned question you will need to consult the texts the instructor has indicated as authoritative.

Lawrence Fuchs, for example, asserted that
by the time of the Revolution, most of the children and grandchildren of
Dutch, French, German, and Swedish immigrants in the colonies spoke English
and were otherwise indistinguishable from the children and grandchildren of
English settlers, although in Albany, where the Dutch predominated, it was
difficult to assemble an English-speaking jury, and several counties in
Pennsylvania were overwhelmingly German-speaking. Hostility toward speakers
of Dutch and German and toward the English-speaking Scotch-Irish, the
newest large immigrant group, was widespread nationality.

Just as a note, many Americans, even migrants from the early 20th century, can be tracked to Germany, but due to the atrocities of WWI and WWII by the Germans many German Americans preferred to be identified as just as Americans.

  • Why is Africa poor?

    Best answer: Colonialism.

Most of these countries have only been independent for a few decades, some as late as 2011 (South Sudan). It took the United States 150 years to become a superpower.

More resources leave Africa than Africa receives in aid, investment, and remittances.

  • Are kurds muslims or not?

Best answer: the Kurdish people are overwhelming Muslim, but are not Arabic in ancestry, nor of Iranian [Persian] ancestry. In general, they are far more interested in being Kurdish than in the Sunni/Shi'a split in Islam and don't seem to have much interest in forcing others to observe as they do.
