  • Why is alcohol socially accepted yet socially condemned?

That the best advice one would give regarding this issue is to not drink at all. I'm not by any means condoning drinking, I'm all for not drinking at all. • Why are people so addicted to drinking?

It seems like everywhere I go, all that I hear is people want to drink alcohol. Coworkers at virtually every job that I have worked for decades have always said, "X day is my birthday. It seems like everywhere I go, all that I hear is people want to drink alcohol. Coworkers at virtually every job that I have worked for decades have always said, "X day is my birthday. Man, I'm going to get me so (alcohol brand) and I'm going to be SO messed up!" I presently work at a large corporate office and honestly, even though these people are upper-level management, VP's, executives, CFO's and such for different companies...they seem like a bunch of winos and drunks. I see the same thing in so many other places. For instance, a friend suggested that I try a dating site and virtually all of the people on there only care about "going out for a drink". What IS it with people and alcohol? It seems like cell phones nowadays...people can't do anything without walking and looking at them, only they can't seem to get through each day without having alcohol. I'm in my 30's and have never felt any desire for alcohol and I don't feel that it is relevant to anything regarding my upbringing. I just literally do not see the point in drinking it to get a buzz from it.

Best answer: You do not need a smelly cigar that badly. Leave it alone. He's obviously keeping it for some personal reason.

  • Accidentally drank house owners alcohol?

So I'm pet sitting for some people at their house and they told me I could help myself to any food or drinks in the kitchen...so I did. I had a hard sparkling water (which I didn't realize meant it had alcohol in it) it looked like your usual fruity carbonated water. But then after I drank the entire thing...not very slowly...I started feeling kinda light headed and dizzy (not how I usually feel when tipsy). So I looked up the drink and found out it was alcoholic which was weird since it didn't taste like alcohol at all. anyway I want to know if I should tell the owners what happened or just let it go (I gotta guilty conscience). Also it was the only one they had of it so I feel like they'd notice that it's gone. It prob wouldn't matter if I was 21, but they know that I'm 18 so.

  • Why do people in the US like to overly complicate fermentation?

Best answer: You don't have a CLUE about making beer - we power oxygenate our wort then pop on an airlock to keep wild yeast from changing the flavor of the beer - because yeast passes on a lot of flavor to the beer styles and wild yeast usually doesn't. But who the hell would know if beer is made from frigging bananas.

Best answer: Assuming you aren't addicted to alcohol, don't drink alcohol, and don't want to be around your alcoholic family when they are all drunk, you silently go outside and get into your car and leave. With you knowing your family are all alcoholics and you aren't and don't want to become an alcoholic you stop attending family gatherings with your family and come to the realization your family will not change and there's nothing you can do or say that will get them to change. You can only change yourself by and for yourself. This is the only way to not be affected by alcoholism of others. Your presence at family gatherings isn't required if you make the conscious decision to be good to yourself. You answer only to yourself and do what you think is best for your sanity. Being in the presence of a drunken family when you don't want to be isn't being good to yourself or your sanity. You don't answer to your drunken family. You answer to yourself.
