  • Can loud exhausts scare animals off the road?

I live in a very dense forest and I wanna straight pipe my S13. It's illegal to do it here, but I don't think it'd be much of an issue to due to the fact that most of the roads here are up mountains, where no one really lives other than a lot of deers (I daily a different car to go to school with, etc).... show more

  • Parallel parking: How far from the curb are you supposed to be park in New Jersey?

  • What's the best way to deal with these types of stupid drivers?

Best answer: The best way is to not let it get to you. Reacting with road rage just causes more problems, and possibly a violent showdown. They play on their phones while driving....they even drive their vehicles without car tags.

There is no way you can constructively fix stupid drivers. They are as dumb as F!!! Just let them go on by....or PATIENTLY wait so you can get around the slower ones. Think about less stressful, positive thoughts. It will keep you from getting shot or hit over the head with a crowbar.

There is a reason why people do the things they do, and the reasons are not always good ones. We may interact with a hundred drivers in a few minutes. Statistically, one of those drivers will be the worst in a hundred. One will be schizophrenic; 4 will be bipolar (3 severely); 4 will be sociopaths; 4 have clinical rage disorder. 7 of them will be convicted felons, 7 will be alcoholics. A variable number will be under the influence of alcohol, cocaine, meth, and all sorts of other drugs. Some will have just lost a loved one, more will have recently been dumped by a lover. 2 will be in their first year of driving; 2 will not be able to continue driving next year. 20 beat their wives, husbands, boy friends, girl friends. 20 will have been beaten. These are the drivers around us.

Our only defense is to keep cool, think like a professional, and deal with the weird things on the road around us. Driving is never personal but it is perfectly willing to turn our lives into tragedies if we let emotions in while driving. Impatience will sure make it a lot worse. We need to be aware that we are juggling chain saws every moment we are in traffic, that we control our vehicle and lots of unfit drivers are controlling vehicles near us. That's just the way it is and we can't change it.

  • How often should I check my mirrors on my driving test and do I need to constantly be looking at my side mirrors?

Is it important that I’m always looking at both side mirrors as well as my rear view mirror? I check my rearview mirror a lot but I don’t know if I’m all that good at checking my side mirrors, especially the one on the right, while just driving down the road and not changing the lanes. I’m from the U.S.

I was with my driving instructor, everything was going fine I was following the speed limit then suddenly the car in front of us brake checks us for no reason what so ever, light was green, intersection was clear, and there was no pedestrians. His excuse was he was trying to make a right turn but did not have his turn signals on and was in the center of the lane, not the bike lane. This causes us to hit him (damages weren't too bad). Though my instructor said I shouldn't worry about it, I can't really wrap my head around if it was my fault or the driver in front of me. Who was at fault here?
