I've never taking a driving lesson so I'm no expert, but isn't it the law that even when your light says turn, if the pedestrian light says "cross", and there's a pedestrian crossing, you have to stop and let them cross so as not to RUN THEM OVER? Drivers are actually pretty good at doing this in general, but how come the car behind them almost always honks at the car in front whenever they stop so they don't KILL A PEDESTRIAN? So many NYC drivers do this so I'm just a little confused because as a pedestrian, it sounds like you're communicating that the car in front of you should just break the law and not stop or just run us over if we're already crossing. You know they're not just being polite, right? You know it's actually the law? Like they have no other choice unless they want to commit murder? So why honk at them?

  • Should I be worried for my safety over road rage incident?

A vehicle cut me off driving aggressively. I get mad and honk my horn. Then I see an opening and cut him or her off which causes them to honk back. I thought it ended there but 10 min up the road the driver comes up to the right of me honking their horn at me and I just ignore it. At this point I regret even... show more

I thought it ended there but 10 min up the road the driver comes up to the right of me honking their horn at me and I just ignore it. At this point I regret even getting involved in this to begin with. I’m worried that maybe this driver decided to jot down my plate number to try to look up where I live or something. How do you handle aggressive drivers like this.? I honestly do ignore them and let it go but sometimes it’s easy to get emotional in the moment after something happens so repetitively

Hi everyone, I am a new driver. Been licensed for a month and I have been driving for a few hours a week with my mom in her car. I do everything well! Signal all turns, look over my shoulder before changing lanes, obey all traffic laws, etc. However the part I struggle with most is staying centered in my lane. For some darn reason I find it super difficult because for example: If I am in the left lane, I must stay left. I feel like I am gonna go right over the double yellow or into the divider if I stay too close to the left so I end up drifting to the right. *HONK HONK* from the car behind me! Same crap happens when I am in the right lane. I feel like I'm gonna go off the road so I end up drifting to the left and again, *HONK HONK* or if nobody is there my mom tells me to stay in my lane. I haven't driven alone yet because this is her vehicle and she doesn't really want me to go out alone yet (understandably). So can someone please give me some advice on how I can stay centered? I know I can stay centered, I just feel like I'll go off the road whenever I get too close to whatever side I'm on. I know driving is a skill that perfects as time goes on but I wanna nip this in the bud now before something bad happens. Thanks for your help!

  • How to improve driving?

I’m 15 and I’ve had my permit for 3 months. My parents think I’m a bad driver, compared to my brother who was a really good driver even when he had his permit. I make a couple mistakes, and freak out when I do. I’m terrible at driving during rush hour or on highways, but I’m fine on other roads. Anyways, how can I... show more

  • Stopping traffic?

She started screaming and swearing at me immediately. Was I wrong to continue driving? Should she not be getting her child out of of the car on the other side where the pavement is? Is she allowed to just step out and very suddenly try and stop traffic?

  • If you cannot see the road between you and the car in front, does that mean you're tailgating?

Also, what are signs are cars far enough to turn in front of them if you see them? For tailgating, I have been thinking about not seeing the road but I am checking to sure I was thinking correctly.

  • Why is ambulance spelt backwards on a hood of an ambulance?

Best answer: So that it reads the right way round when you look at it through your rear view mirror in your car. So, you are driving along, you hear a siren, you look in your rear view mirror, and bingo it says Ambulance.

Hello, I am a newly licensed driver. When I had my permit I did not practice on the roads, only with my mom at the DMV test course. Now that I have my license I practice in her car on the roads, driving to places and shopping. I am pretty good at driving except when I am on roads with lanes as I sometimes cut drivers off on accident and I don't mean to. I just get really confused on multilane roadways and end up turning without looking. I don't do this all the times but sometimes I forget to look until I hear *HONK HONK* and see the driver giving me the finger. I genuinely do not intend to cut people off but it just happens. How can I prevent this? Is there any special technology I can install to encourage me to look more before I turn or like any lane departure warning I can install? I really wanna become a better driver as driving is something that I take very seriously. When I passed my test, I never felt so euphoric in my life. My driving privileges are very important to me. Please help!! Thank you :)
