Few reasons.. Ruth was only a "great pitcher" during the deadball era. He hit against subpar pitching regularly, save for Lefty Grove on occasion, and baseball was also pre-integrated, meaning the talent pool was watered down.

Ruth was also an awful person, even advocated for segregation because he didn't want Gibson stealing his thunder.

The GOAT of baseball is undoubtedly Willie Mays. As good as Mike Trout is today, he couldn't hold a candle to Mays.

So our coach went through the explanation of why we will have a JV and Varsity team but they will be just "two teams" with no label because slow-pitch is not as competitive as its spring counterpart. So we start practicing and he started to assign girls to teams. Now here I expected to be put on the Varsity team because that's where all of my other teammates from spring were put on. But alas I was put on JV and I was having a hard time understanding why. It's been quite irritating and embarrassing to me when some of the JV and 2 Varsity girls were placed on the other team and here I am stuck with a bunch of beginners who have never held a bat before. Like, am I really that bad? The coach told me personally that I did a very good job at third base last season but still puts me on the beginners' team. So I went and confronted him about the situation and he flat out denied all claims of there being one strong team and another lesser team, saying they were both "equal". I personally think its a bunch of BS and if you're going to have two "equal" teams spread the girls out between the teams for more of a balanced playing field. I told him that I was done and did not want to play on a team that is not helpful or fair to everyone. And he begged me not to quit saying that I was a good hitter and fielder and he "needed" me on the team. So I went home and thought about it and I'm stumped, what should I do?

These are just some of the players who have had the surgery and have gone on to have productive careers. Ohtani is young enough that he can come back from this but I do agree that a decision needs to be made on how to use him. He's, either, a pitcher or he's not.
He's been more impressive as a hitter and playing the field would mean less wear and tear on his arm so my guess is that wherever he plays in the future it will be as a DH/OF.
He's obviously not an elite talent but he can still be a very good player for some team.

  • Do you think the Cubs are taking the Milwaukee Brewers too lightly?

now that our starting pitching for the most part is doing better, our bullpen is faulting a little. with Edwards especially struggling. they were really good in the first half, and i was worried they may break down down the stretch and into October, assuming we get to the play offs. there's still 20 something games to go, and with only a 2 game lead in the division, every game counts now.

we still have one more series against the Brewers at home next week, and finish the season at home against the Cardinals. I wouldn't be surprised if it goes down to the wire for the division title, or even a playoff berth.

  • I say '18WS - Red sox vs. Cubs. What say you?

Best answer: I don't think so and hope it does not happen, if it did I would root for the Red Sox because I will never root for the Cubs because of the way that their "fans" treated Steve Bartman, and this includes the ones at the game, and hearing Cubs"fans" talk about him afterwards.

  • In the MLB, how would this replay challenge situation be resolved?

Also modernize the game. Instant replay was a step in the right direction, now all that's missing is computerized strikezones. Fûck relying on these senile Umps and their subjective àss "corners".

And bring back home plate collisions!
