  • Can I just upgrade my iPhone 6 to an iPhone 8?

I’m already on a family plan, I can backup my memory on the cloud. Can the Verizon SIM card in my 6 be used in the 8? Can I just keep everything as is, stay in the plan. Basically all I want to do is buy the iPhone 8 as I’ve already replaced the battery for the 6 once.... and it’s not holding power well anymore.

Okay so 2 weeks ago my android phone broke and i went to the store to get another phone. My friend saw me in the store and said that she could just add me on her line since i have bad credit and i could get an iphone so i said this is great and i was very thankful. I had to pay her $350 for the down payment for the iphone 8 plus and i got the phone and im on her line. All of a sudden she calls me today and says she needs the iphone back because shes switching from At&t to Verizon and that she cant add me on her line, i asked her is there anyway i could keep that line and keep paying the monthly payments and she said no and that at&t said the line has to be open for 30 days. So basically i got into it with her and said HELL NO im not giving you back the phone because i just paid you $350 for the down payment for the phone 2 weeks ago and you all of a sudden are asking for the phone back, she ended up getting mad and pissed. We arent friends anymore. So now shes pissed with me because i took the phone and got it unlocked to another network. Am i wrong? Was i justified?? I feel like if she had given me my money back them i would have given her the phone back without an issue but its the fact that she just all of a sudden decided to switch phone lines and ask for the iphone back after i JUST PAID HER

I have an iPhone 6. I don't have phone service, so I just use it for music, internet, emails, and social media. Yesterday, when I woke up, the phone had the symbol on it for a dead battery. It is still like that even though it has been charged up since. I have been having a lot of issues with it where it keeps dying on me when it still says I have enough percentage, plus I only have about 20-30 minutes usage before it dies. I got the phone when I was getting student loans in college. I have since graduated and have been having trouble finding employment, so replacing the phone is out of the question. My problem is, I logged onto iTunes and I found out that the music that I have purchased, I didn't download it to my computer. I usually download my music on my phone so I never thought to download it on my computer. My question is, is there a way I can get my music back on my computer without using my phone since my phone is dead?

Best answer: To answer your questions...

    1) You may want to consider using a caller detection service that can tell you if an unknown number is problematic or not.

While you can change your number, you can potentially wind up with MORE headaches as phone numbers can be recycled (since carriers will only retain an inactive number for 60 days before returning it to the pool of available numbers) & the previous owner may have done worse things since businesses & others may not have notified others of changed numbers.

    2) Text messages & Address Book are STORED LOCALLY (on the phone itself)... so those will be kept on the phone, even when you change your number.

I will note that you may have your Address Book stored or backed up to your Google Account (for Android) or iCloud Account (for iPhones), so it can be synced up to any new device (making it easier to recover your contacts). HOWEVER, your text are not backed up anywhere, so those will be stuck on your phone unless you forward a copy to your e-mail address (yes, you can send text to e-mail addresses).

    3) IP addresses are linked to ISP's & the area it's servicing. Additionally, most IP addresses at the consumer / residential level are TEMPORARY as ISP's typically utilize Dynamic IP's that change anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Additionally, if you change WHERE you're connecting from, your IP address will change... even with your cell carrier as you change cell tower areas.

As for login details, that's done with cookies stored on your phone... so the websites know who you are, even when your IP address changes.

THEREFORE, DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR IP ADDRESS! The only time it become critical that you know your IP address is if you're hosting a server... which is something you're NOT going to be doing on your phone.

    4) Carriers do not actively share contact details of their cellular customers, like number changes & whatnot. Customers tend to be self-leaking, as you may provide your number to friends & family as well as post it in public places like Facebook or whatnot. Therefore, you need to be a bit proactive on who you provide your own details to as once it gets leaked to the public, anybody & their dog could pass your details around.

  • What models of phones are available that have all the modern connectivity but are not smartphones?

Best answer: As others have suggested on here, in the UK you can get phones from Doro that will do what you want (my mother has one).

Most smartphones can also be set up with a "simplified" interface. This gives you a very cut down interface with a big on-screen keypad, so it basically mimics a dumb-phone!

  • Where can I buy a cheap used iPhone?

Best answer: You can always find the best deals on eBay for something like a used phone. Just be careful to always read about the condition. You do have to be realistic on what it costs to get something decent, but there are deals out there if you look hard enough.

I really dislike texting entire conversations. Of course, messages are like "I'm here" or "which restaurant?" or "don't forget the red folder" are fine with me. But I refuse to text an entire conversation with someone, at that point I immediately stop texting and call them. The problem is that many people who text a lot have a phobia of talking on the phone and consequently some people don't answer my call, and they obviously are near their phone because they just texted me. I'm also not tied to my cell phone and might not respond to a text the next day because the phone might be upstairs or far from me. A phone call rings the phone repeatedly so I am more likely to hear it whereas a text only beeps once. So, how does a person who doesn't really like texting communicate with someone who does not want to talk on the phone? I guess friendship is possibly not possible. Many of these people who have don't like talking on the phone also have full voice mails or have never set up their mail boxes obviously for fear of getting a message and having to make a call.
