Best answer: Dark Souls plays more like an Action game/ 3rd person 3d platformer than it does a conventional RPG. It has loads of RPG elements but lacks narrative aside from item descriptions and npc dialogue (both of which fairly easy to miss), theres not really any 'towns' other than a main one used as a sort of hub area. It does have stats, spells, equipment, and so on (technically party members as well) which kind of make it an rpg.

Gameplay in Dark Souls is largely dodge-based with a stamina resource restricting how often you can dodge, attack, and other combat actions. Weapon types have different movesets (somewhat similar to fighting games in a way), as do damaging spells have different styles.

When you die, you leave behind however many souls (which is basically both money and exp. in the same currency) you had when you died. Then you respawn at the last bonfire (the game's checkpoints) you visited and to get the souls you lost back you have to pick them up without dying. Basically, what makes the game considered difficult is that its fairly easy for the enemies to kill you, so you have to replay an area until you can reach the next place without dying. However, its not a Roguelike game so you simply pick up where you left off rather than start from the beginning again.

The real hard part, IMO, is completing npc storylines. Without spoiling too much, basically you need to get npc party members through certain areas and boss fights without getting them killed. Because when npc's die in Dark Souls they dont come back. but its all optional whether you want to bother with them.

There's also multiplayer, you can help out others with fighting monsters and bosses, or invade other games and try to kill people, or even just 1v1 duels, etc.

  • Do you prefer disc copies of video games or digital copies?

Sure, it's so much easier to just purchase a digital copy with a couple clicks of the controller, but you can't trade in digital copies for credit toward new games, therefore I always go for the disc copy.

My dad claims God of War is "too violent" and that violence and language will end up affecting me when I believe in Christinaity. Why would it affect me? It's a damn game. Why do parents make such big deals?! Now, don't give me none of that "Listen to your dad" Bolshevik. He lets me watch Family Guy, Simpsons and King of the Hill. He lets me play Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, The Last of Us, Life is Strange, Until Dawn, Silent Hill, Street Fighter & Batman: Arkham games at age 10-12. He lets me see Guardians of the Galaxy at age 11 & other comic book movies (like Constantine, X-Men films, Black Panther, Deadpool, etc.) yet won't let me get God of War. He claims he's "protecting me", but he also claims he's "protecting me" by only letting me believe in Hinduism when believing in other religions doesn't even hurt anyone! Answering rules: No "Listen to your dad" Bolshevik No "Start believing in Hinduism". If you say that, you must be a friend of Christopher Columbus. Look, I have nothing wrong with people being Hindu, Jewish, etc, but you can't tell me what I can and can't believe!

  • Will microsoft and Sonys new consoles they announced at E3 2018 be next gen or the same consoles except upgraded specs?

Best answer: We'll know more once they start talking specs, rather than just vague announcements. Then it depends on how backward compatible they are. If the PS5/Xbox 2020 (or whatever random name they pick this time) are fully backward compatible, then does it count as a new generation or an evolution of this generation?... show more
Best answer: We'll know more once they start talking specs, rather than just vague announcements.

Then it depends on how backward compatible they are. If the PS5/Xbox 2020 (or whatever random name they pick this time) are fully backward compatible, then does it count as a new generation or an evolution of this generation? Or is it a new generation only when new games don't work on old consoles anymore?

I tend to think that they'll lean towards more compatibility and more frequent refreshes, but having games work with old and new consoles too, like they did with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. People who want the latest and greatest buy more hardware, they can sell existing systems and games for longer and extend the lifespan. But that's just my opinion.
