I paid 2 mos. lot rent, by check.Landlord misplaces check(uncashed) 2 mos. later he demands rent AND late fee!?
Can I fight the late fees? and if so, how? My original lease was signed over 10 yrs ago and I no longer have it. I guess that makes me month to month. There has been regular notifications concerning rent increases, but nothing on late fees. The park recently changed ownership and the new management is apparently trying to get things straightened out. I have no receipt because I figured I would always have my cancelled check. I already feel inconvenienced by having to re-issue the check. Apparently prior management had shoddy record keeping as my problem is among dozens of other irregularities.
