  • Christmas gift ideas for babies? ?

Both of my cousins have babies around the same age (not quite 1 year). For Christmas we did already buy a couple toys. But, I wanted to get something that was NOT a toy. I was thinking along the lines of necessities (like shampoo, wipes, etc...) Do you think that would be appreciated? Or do you have any other ideas? Any help would be appreciated! I just need to brainstorm.

  • IBS friends, suggestions on what to add to diet? ?

Recently diagnosed with IBS-D, after nearly two months with SEVERE symptoms. I was told to keep on my BRAT/Bland diet during this time. I basically lived off pretzels, as too large of portions would cause symptoms as well.

My typical meal now includes: mashed potatoes (non-dairy), scrambled eggs, and a piece of potato bread toast. I snack on pretzels, almonds, and baked Lays potato chips. I drink Gatorade/water, cranberry juice, and 1 can of Pepsi daily.

I know I have issue with fats, and caffeine. I no longer drink coffee, but am fine with 1 can of Pepsi in the morning.

I tried adding diced bell pepper, parmesan cheese, and a slice of turkey bacon to my usual meal. I noticed a change the next day, so evidently my body didn't care for it. Does anyone have any other easy to digest foods, that I can try adding to my diet? I'm pretty desperate to add some variety, but also scared of triggering symptoms. Thanks in advance!

  • Can my dog have aspirin if he's taking Clavamox? Anal gland abscess?

My dog has had a ruptured anal gland in the past. He's on a higher fiber kibble now, and I keep an eye out for any issues. Seemingly out of the blue, his rear looked decently swollen. The vet squeezed me in, but they could not drain his anal glands. They told me he has an abscess forming, and gave me antibiotics. They caught it soon enough, they want to wait it out to let it drain on its own. It is working, little by little...but my poor boy is so swollen. My vet's office is not currently open, nor will they be for the weekend. I just want to know if I can give my dog aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid, 120 mg, specifically for dogs) while he's taking Clavamox antibiotic. He's acting pretty normal, but it's definitely bothering him. I've been doing warm saltwater compresses pretty regularly, and it seems to help. I'm just not sure if it's enough. Any vet's out there?

  • Kind words on a colonoscopy?

I've gone through several different tests to explain my chronic diarrhea. This is the only test left. But, it's kind of freaking me out. I'm a 26 year old woman and could use some helpful comments. I'm mostly afraid of being awake for the dang thing. I've read stories about people being awake enough to look at the screen AFTER being sedated! When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I was consciously sedated (pill an hour before, then given an extra dose at the office). Will this sedation be similar to something like that? Because I was OUT, and couldn't remember anything that happened for the rest of the day. Any kind words or suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Suggestions on cleaning up antifreeze?

I recently had to top off my antifreeze/coolant, and some dripped onto the cement floor in my garage. I sprinkled a good amount of baking soda on the area, and let it sit while I got some soapy water. Cleaned the soda up, and then scrubbed with soap and water (with a stiff bristled brush). Wiped up as much wetness as I could with paper towels. It is now air drying. Is there anything more I should do? My dad lets the dogs in the garage with him somewhat frequently, and I don't want them to be in danger.

  • Suggestions on how to help my dog drink water? He just had surgery and HAS to keep his cone on for 2 weeks...?

He is pretty stubborn about eating/drinking on his own time, so I can't just take the cone off expecting him to do it right then. I have been able to hand feed him little bits of ground turkey, but he refuses to eat kibble. The food doesn't worry me as much as him getting dehydrated. I tried putting it in a small container or even a little plastic spoon, and he freaks out that it splashes in his face. I thought about getting an oral syringe and giving him water that way, but I will have to leave him for 8 or so hours (in a spacious crate) to go to work this week. Is this too much time to leave him alone without a source of water? Should I possibly get him one of those top fill water bottles to attach to his crate? Should I give him some Pedialyte every once and awhile to help keep him hydrated, or will that interfere with his medications? (He's taking Tramadol, Carprofen, Clavamox, and Ofloxacin eye drops).

If it makes any difference, he had surgery for eye proptosis (they put his eye back in the socket), he's a Shih Tzu.

Thank you for all your help!

  • How to get rid of spider egg sacs?

So, there is a folding rice screen in my bedroom by the window. I decided to move it from the corner to see if something fell behind it. And in the corner there are spider webs, complete with dead spiders and their dead prey. But there are 5 or 6 small white clusters hanging from the web, with little white dots on the inside. Pretty sure they're egg sacs. I can't really use bug spray, because I have dogs. And I am terrified of spiders. But they need to go. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Woken up with left arm pain?

My left arm had been hurting for the past couple days, but I thought nothing of it. Tonight I woke up with pain radiating through my left arm, down to my wrist and fingertips. It's about a 6 on a scale from 1 to 10. I'm 21 years old, 5'6", and about 130 lbs. I went to the ER and cardiologist about 3 years ago due to numbness in my left arm, every test coming back clean. My arm has now been hurting for about 2 hours. What could be causing this, and what can I do to stop it?

I am looking to find a top similar to this one: http://www.shopko.com/product/entity/54285.uts

But I would really like it to go all the way around, and not just have the back be plain. I would also like it to be in the same price range or cheaper. Thank you so much!

  • Passion fruit filling?

I am planning on making fresh fruit tartlets for a party next month. But, instead of the standard cream filling, I would like a cream filling with passion fruit. However, I have never cooked with passion fruit before, and I am not sure how to work with it. I have looked online for some recipes, but they just seemed really complicated. I would like something a bit simple, so I don't stress myself out. So if you could give me some advice, or a recipe for a passion fruit filling that you think would make a good base for a fresh fruit tart, please let me know!

  • Recipe for Sizzler's Oreo pudding?

I would really like to make the Oreo pudding from Sizzler for Christmas for my dad. I know it would mean a lot to him. I have only actually tasted it once, and it seemed like it had Cool Whip, chocolate marshmallows, chocolate cake, and possibly Oreos. I could just take my chances and try to make it, but I figured I would ask and see if anyone knew how to make it. All answers are greatly appreciated, thanks!

  • Sweater tights or fleece lined tights?

For Halloween I would like to wear tights, but I also want to be as warm as possible. I have seen both fleece lined & sweater tights, and I am wondering which one would be the warmest. I don't want leggings, because I want them to be footed. All answers are appreciated! Thanks!

  • What kind of face paint should I use?

For Halloween I will be painting my entire face, mostly white. The last time I tried to paint my face white, I just used a cream face paint and it ended up cracking. This year I really need a good face paint, that is going to last through a very long day at work (Up to 12 hours). I would really like one that won't crack or smear easily. And I would like it to be fairly inexpensive. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Name of Christian singer who looks like Weird Al?

At church they always play a couple music videos before service starts, while everyone is getting seated. There was one where the lead singer looked a lot like Weird Al. He had the long hair, glasses, facial hair. But I can't find out who he was for the life of me. I can't remember what song it was, or any of the lyrics. But my dad really liked it, and put me in charge of finding it. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

  • Do you have to seal dyed leather?

I recently dyed my suitcase a different color with some leather dye. I don't think the suitcase is real leather, but I know that the dye was suitable for either. It turned out a nice color, I'm just wondering if it is necessary for me to seal it somehow. Also, if it is necessary or recommended, what method and/or product would you recommend? Thanks!

  • How much do piñatas cost at WinCo?

I'm just a bit curious as to how much piñatas cost at WinCo. I don't really want to drive out there just to see how much they are, because I really have no other reason to go there.

    All answers are greatly appreciated.

  • Glow sticks inside balloons?

My friend would like to have glow sticks inside helium balloons for his party. Has anyone been to a store that would let them do this? Or did you have to get a helium tank and do it yourself?

    All answers are appreciated! :)

  • Halloween party food ideas?

I already have an appetizer, drink, and dessert. I am in need of an entree, but I am drawing a blank. I have looked it up on Google, but all I get are things that look disgusting. I'm sorry, but I cannot serve anything that looks gross. However, I would still like the food to be in the Halloween spirit.

    All answers are appreciated! :D

  • Does this recipe sound good?

This is a recipe I got online and altered. Do you think that this would taste good? Any suggestions?

Note: I can't put any added sugars in this recipe. This includes artificial sweeteners.

    Ingredients

    1 (46-ounce) can 100% fruit juice punch

    1 (46-ounce) can apple juice

    1 (48-ounce) bottle cranberry juice

    1 (2-liter) bottle Seltzer

    Ice cubes

I would also rather not just use regular ice cubes since they would water the drink down. Should I freeze the seltzer or one of the juices instead? I do want the ice cubes to be a different color since they are decorative.
