• New-ish SSI-FWTS (Combat Patch) ALARACT, what do you think?

According to ALARACT 055/2007 http://www.armyg1.army.mil/hr/Uniform/do... the authorization for wear of a combat patch has been broadened significantly . It essentially says that if you set foot in Iraq or Afghanistan, you're authorized wear. A colleague and I went to Iraq for 2 weeks. We went outside the wire on 6 security missions, 2 aviation missions and 1 route clearance misson. Neither of us got blown up or shot at the during the time we were there, though the risk was the same. Neither of us have been formally deployed to either place. We've both been deployed - myself twice - but not to a place like this. Now, even though we covered more mileage in the time we were there than a lot of folks get in a year, we're not sure we spent time enough to warrant a SSI-FWTS... out of respect for those who have. What do you think of this reg? I prefer to hear the 2-cents of vets but all opinions are welcome. The link to the ALARACT above will provide all the insight you need.

  • Bailout costs about $2,300 for each of us? ?

What's the rush to pass this bill, and what happens if we don't? I don't think this has been properly explained to us citizens. Is the threat of depression real, imagined, or manufactured? All I really know is that "we MUST pass this or we're all up the creek..." Your thought's?

Writing essays and thesis by hand or typwriter? That's just another reason why I did so badly in school. But look at me! Now, I spend most of my waking hours at a keyboard. I hate computer technology and didn't really know squat about computers until I forced myself to jack in for a living about five years ago. Now I know more about PC and Mac than your average schlep. I still hate them and think they will be the cause of our ultimate undoing. I don't think technology solved any more problems than it created, but look, in just a minute, my thoughts will be there for millions to look at, and someone, somewhere, is getting remote surgery. The biggest bonus for me is I can type quicker than I can write, it helps me lay down some great video tracks with effects and graphics. Just waiting for the crash. Do you remember what it took to live without a computer in your house? A cordless phone? Pong? A TV with analog broadcast? I tell you what; you really had to know your $h!t.

It's not killing them, and as long as they can score some, they're happy with it. Aren't we all? I am 100% straight and more... show more

I think the whole thing is misunderstood and even possibly misrepresented by those who are.

  • What is a reasonable rate for day care?

My wife's going back to work in a month and this may be a possiblity. Most websites don't list pricing because they want you to call. I know, I know; It's my child, not a dog. But I'm not interested in dancing the dance just to get an overview. The "if you have to ask, you shouldn't bother" mentality is a big elitist turnoff that isn't very practical. She'll be 5 months old. Any advice you can provide would be very helpful. I'm a little new at this.

Still tastes like the day I popped it. What the hell did I just eat? Did the sniff. Checked for "inclusions". Wiggled it back and forth a bit. Nothing fishy, so I went for it. Did I just eat something that'll leave me enbalmed for 1532 years after I die?

Not long ago I asked a question about how to rip a DVD that I myself shot, edited and recorded to a DVD using government equipment in the course of my job for a product that the general public is legally entitled to. Y.A. deleted my question. I came to Y.A. because it is a unique collection of minds that can at times solve technical problems to people like me who need quick answers. I submit that while Y.A. was justifiably protecting copywrite law they were far too quick to pass judgment and that in ASSuming I was a common crook, I was quite insulted by my treatment. What yahoo censor gets paid top dollar to pass judgement on me without knowing the facts?
