• Needing help with creating algorithm for my class placement!?

    I am teacher trying to work out the classes for my students next year. There are 56 kids needing to be broken up into two classes. I am trying to create a simple algorithm that will help with creating a program to facilitate this without having to actually sit down and work out class placements in my head which many have done for years before. I have a basic understanding of computer programming and am wanting to develop some type of algorithm into a program. So I need two classes of 28. Each child did a sheet filling out what 5 people they wanted to be in a class with next year. We only promised them one person from the list each. The other conditions are certain children can not be placed with other children. (Oh the joys of teaching). Please, if anyone can enlighten or assist me in finding a way to do this, please help!     Up posted an app I wrote back in 2004. When I search for the keywords I used, I have found my code discussed many places on the internet. It has been re-posted dozens of places. In the 14 years that have passed, only two things have changed: 1. In some cases my comments have been removed. The comments included the license, the reason I wrote the code, how to use it, lots of helpful tips, along with suggested things the person might want to change. 2. The code originally written to be compiled using a product that is no longer supported. The code pragma was updated to so it can be complied using currently supported compilers. It was nice of someone to make that change. Other than noted above, the code has not changed. Not one line has changed. I posted an email just for feedback purposes. Over 14 years dozens of people have sent me photos of their projects that made use of my code. That gives me warm fuzzies. Why remove the comments? Why not add features, or improvements and re-posting? Do people not understand what open source is about?

    I am extremely experienced with web design, and I thought it would make sense to help others learn and maybe make a bit of money to help me with my car and college. Basically, I'm looking for a site that will allow me to publish an HTML (and eventually CSS, JS, etc) course. However, I can't use Lynda or Udemy because - correct me if I'm wrong - I don't believe they allow text-based courses. I'm pretty sure videos are required; and I can't do videos because I have no sort of quality recording software and equipment. If you guys could give me some reputable, well-known sites that will meet my needs I will greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
