What's the best lens that I can get for my Rebel T1I?

I intend to use it for street fashion photography and product photography. Ideally it would be under $800. Thanks!

For fashion I would recommend the 17-55 F2.8 or the 24-70 F2.8L. Both are great lenses but they are not cheap.

Product photography will depend on the size of the product. Jewelry or similar sized items would require a macro lens to do properly and for that I would recommend 100mm F2.8 macro or the L version if you can afford it.

For street photography either the 17-55 or 24-70 would be fine but you may also want to cosider a prime lens like a 24mm or 35mm.

Most of these are over your budget but they really are worth it. If I had to choose I would buy the macro lens for the products and keep your 18-55mm kit lens for the rest. You could also pick up a 50mm F1.8 ($100) for portraits and low light shooting.
