Lee and Cain were both terrific. We talk about how pitching has dominated since the MLB put their foots down on the issue of steroids and HGH, but even with that in mind, their duel brings you back to the dead ball era where Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson would regularly pitch shutouts past 9 innings. I thought they both could've gone at least one more inning and maybe the game lasts longer. Neither man got a decision but it's games like these that the voters remember at the end of the season.
Lee pitched great tonight, spread the 7 hits out nicely and came up with 7 clutch strikeouts. Just as impressive was his opponent Matt Cain throwing a 2 hit shutout through 9 innings to follow up on his 1 hitter. This could be a preview of the NLCS championship series.
It looks like an outing I'd throw in a video game. I haven't seen a game thrown like this in a long time, and now we have Chooch at 3rd. What a game so far. When is the last time a 4u has been recorded?
