My cousin wants me to chaperon her field trip to UCLA but I don't want to?

my younger cousin is in 9th grade at the same high school I graduated from 3 years ago(2009) and they are going on a field trip to UCLA. My cousin wants me to chaperon. while I love the thought of being in LA for a day, I don't want to hang out with high schoolers all day. What do I do?

Either 1) lie and say you are busy then and sorry but you can't be the chaperon or 2) be honest and just say no. Say you are not her/his parent and would feel uncomfortable having to watch them plus other little kids for a whole day. You do not have to chaperon because you aren't their older sibling and you aren't their parent. It is also smart of you NOT to chaperon them if they are bringing other little kids along on the trip because you will be held responsible by the parents if anything goes wrong (someone goes missing or gets injured or killed on the trip).

If you are willing to say, just be straight up tell and make it casual. Like "nahh no thanks, i don't want to be surrounded by high schoolers."

Say no, and explain your reasons. Chaperoning is a huge responsibility if done properly.
