Is this the right word?

This is a passage from my story, Bliss is referring to Bliss, Idaho. Is ironic the right word here?

“And I wish you’d stay, where did this sudden hate for Bliss come from?”

The phrasing seemed ironic, hate for bliss…“It’s not hate, I just need to experience new things,” knowing that she wasn’t satisfied yet I added, “ I’ll probably end up back here anyway,”

Perhaps you could use " paradoxical" instead of 'ironic'.
