Why does GOD never answer my prayers?

I've tried and tried to have a relationship with God but no matter how much I pray to him it's like I'm just talking to a wall! I get no sign, no answer, no difference, nothing happens! I don't ask for much! I just want a little guidance but I get NOTHING! My moms going through a tough time right now and everyone says their gonna pray for her yet NOTHING! Is he even real or does he just hate me? Things like this turn people into atheist! If he was real he'd do something!

yay you just made a break through! here, have a cookie.

I'm sorry about the rough times your going through, and about your mom. but no honey, he isn't real. exactly, just another reason for being atheist. he doesn't do anything for anybody because he isn't real.

    How do you pray?
Do you pray as if you don't believe?
Like you're tired of trying to keep up a routine?
The key is to pray with Faith.
Be honest with God. Talk out loud (or loudly in your head) to him and tell him you don't hear him. Ask him why he's not answering. Try to share what you're really feeling with God.

God always hears you. Most often than not, we won't get an answer in the way we expected,
but somehow, He will find a way to help you.
There are many times where I pray, and I get a "No" or nothing. I feel like God got mad or didn't care.
Then, a week, month (or whatever his timing was) something happens. And I think back and realize that he answered the way he did for a reason beyond my ability to see. There was a reason that he said "no" and it helped me in the future.

I'm not sure if my reasoning will convince/help you. But I encourage you to turn to God and just tell him everything.

I know it gets frustrating when you don't have an answer right away or any answer at all, but God always answers prayers. Sometimes it's a yes, no, or wait, but he always answers him. But he doesn't answer them likes humans. You have to listen and submit to him, and the reason you feel like your talking to a wall is because you have not fully submit your heart to him and do not fully trust in him and believe him. You will need to have faith. God certainly hears prayers, but if you don't have faith you cannot please God. If you doubt then you can't expect to receive anything from God. Sometimes you have to wait for an answer from God. So it's important to have faith even though all common sense and reason is telling you that God won't help you. Keep your faith strong, this kind of faith really pleases God.

If you are having a problem with doubt; then pray for God to help you because of your unbelief. This is normal to wrestle with unbelief. But, if you continue to trust in God then God realize that God will recognize even a tiny amount of faith. Jesus said that the faith the size of a grain of mustard seed(very tiny) was enough to move a mountain.

I understand what you mean, the problem that you have is your trust in God. God isn't always going to answer your prayers in accordance to your will. God isn't a genie, as Jesus has said "seek first the kingdom of God, and after his righteousness and all things will be added". prayer isn't merely asking for things, rather prayer is meditating upon the will of God revealed in Christ. the kingdom of God is Gods true plan for humanity...for all to be conformed into the likeness of Christ. Jesus is the true humanity, he is the answer to all of our prayers. we suffer in this world because we have turned away from our true humanity. it is by seeking our true humanity through which we become fulfilled in our being. you see, God has already answered the prayers of men, through Christ. Jesus said that he is the living water, that those who drink from him, will never be thirsty again. so, prayer isn't about asking some "genie" God for things, rather prayer is more spiritual and mystical than that. prayer is communion with the ultimate source and foundation of your being, it is communion with reality, with God. the will of God or the Logos is the true path, it is the true good. if this is true, then we should seek after the logos and align our prayers and our wills to it. God has already spoken, we simply have to understand what he said

Please ignore the unkind answers. You sound sincere. Sometimes a prayer is answered, we just don't recognize it or perhaps we pray for the wrong thing. Jesus taught us how to pray to his father. Do a little research beginning with looking up, in your own Bible, the scriptures you find in these articles.

First of all, you need to make sure you're a Christian. If you're not saved, then you wont hear anything from God except to put your faith in Jesus. If you repent and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He will come into your heart and save you by His grace. Then, once you're a Christian, you need to learn how to pray and how to listen to God. We should always pray according to God's will, for example, "Lord, if it's your will please bring me a spouse". God usually speaks in sublte ways. He will speak through His word the Bible, to your heart and mind, through people, and circumstances. I recommend the book "How To Listen To God" by Charles Stanley. God always answers prayer, His answer can be yes, no, later, or "I have a better plan for you". Life will not be perfect until we get to Heaven. In Heaven there will be no more death, sorrow, pain, or disease.

You could always try praying to Jesus,s God( rev 3:12) ( 1 cor 15:24-28) and Father( Jehovah) like Jesus taught. The one Jesus told everyone is the only true God( John 17:1-6)

Probably for the same reason that praying to an empty milk carton doesn't answer your prayers.

    You're just talking to yourself.

No, that's not what makes people atheists. Gods not being real is what makes atheists.

Well . . . Whether you know it or not, it makes a difference to God whether you have faith that he hears prayer. What we ask also must be in harmony with his will,as taught in God's Word itself:

    The apostle John stated:

“This is the confidence that we have toward him,
that, no matter what it is that we ask *according to his will,* he hears us.”
    ---1John 5:14; compare James 4:15.

"Moreover, without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please him well, for he that approaches God *MUST* believe that he is *AND* that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him."
    ---Hebrews 11:6

So . . . Have you studied God's Word, AND, applied its counsel & commands to your own life?
Is what you are asking in actual harmony with God's will, or do you even know for sure either way?

You may need to learn the acceptable way to communicate with God, &/or what is acceptable to ask him for . . . as well as to develop faith that he does hear the prayers of those who request his help as directed in God's Word.

    Proof that prayer works:

A 1993 Israeli survey following 10,000 civil servants for 26 years found that Orthodox Jews were less likely to die of cardiovascular problems than "nonbelievers."

A 1995 study from Dartmouth College monitored 250 people after open-heart surgery concluded that those who had religious connections were 12 times less likely to die than those who had none.

Duke Univ. researchers assessed 1,000 hospital patients from 1987 to 1989; patients who prayed or were prayed for coped far better.

This occurs even when the sick person is prayed for and doesn't know it:

Cardiologist Randolph Byrd studied 393 patients admitted to the coronary-care unit at San Francisco General Hospital. Some were prayed for by home-prayer groups, others were not. All the men and women got medical care. In this randomized, double-blind study, neither the doctors and nurses nor the patients knew who would be the object of prayer.

The results surprised many scientists. The men and women whose medical care was supplemented with prayer needed fewer drugs and spent less time on ventilators. They fared better overall than their counterparts who received only medical care. The prayed-for patients were:

Significantly less likely to require antibiotics (3 versus 16)
    " " " develop pulmonary edema (6 versus 18).
" " " require insertion of a tube into the throat to assist breathing (0 versus 12).
    " " " less likely to die
    .
Experiments in healing involve nonhuman subjects. In a survey of 131 controlled experiments, it was found that prayed-for rye grass grew taller; prayed-for yeast resisted the toxic effects of cyanide; prayed-for test-tube bacteria grew faster. These experiments don't involve humans, you can run them with fanatical precision and you can run them hundreds of times. It's the best evidence of all that prayer can change the world. And it operates as strongly on the other side of the Earth as it does at the bedside.

In his book, Healing Words, Larry Dossey, M.D. reviewed over 100 experiments on the effects of prayer. More than half showed an effect on everything from seed germination to wound healing.

Volunteers visualized stimulating or retarding the growth of bacteria and fungi and achieved significantly positive results from as far as 15 miles away.
At the Mind Science Foundation in San Antonio, Texas, researchers took blood samples from 32 volunteers, isolated their red blood cells and placed the samples in a room on the other side of the building. Then the researchers placed the RBCs in a solution designed to swell and burst them, a process that can be measured extremely accurately. Next the researchers asked volunteers to pray for the preservation of some of the RBCS. To help them the researchers projected color slides of healthy RBCS. The praying significantly slowed the swelling and bursting of the RBCS.

In another study at the Mind Science Foundation, volunteers in a room on one side of the building were asked to visualize volunteers in a room on the other side of the building becoming calmer or more agitated. Meanwhile, the "receivers" were hooked up to biofeedback-type equipment to gauge their reactions. The results showed that the "influencers" exerted a statistically significant effect on the receivers' moods.

Prayer can take many forms. Results occur not only when people pray for explicit outcomes, but also when they pray for nothing specific.

A simple "Thy will be done" approach was more powerful than when specific results were held in mind.

A simple attitude of prayerfulness and a feeling of empathy, caring, and compassion for the entity in need, seemed to set the stage for healing.

Experiments also showed that prayer positively affected:
    High Blood Pressure
    Wounds
    Heart Attacks
    Headaches
    Anxiety

The subjects in these studies included:
    Water
    Enzymes
    Bacteria
    Fungi
    Yeast
    Red blood cells
    Cancer cells
    Pacemaker cells
    Seeds
    Plants
    Algae
    Moth larvae
    Mice
    Chicks

The processes that had been influenced by prayer were:
    Activity of enzymes
The growth rate of leukemic white blood cells
    Mutation rates of bacteria
Germination and growth rates of seeds
    Firing rate of pacemaker cells
    Healing of wounds
The size of goiters and tumors
Time required to awaken from anesthesia
Autonomic effects such as electrodermal activity of the skin, rates of hemolysis of red blood cells and hemoglobin levels.

It did not matter whether the praying person was with the person who was prayed for the prayer to work. You can pray for someone who is far away and still have an influence on the outcome.

Nothing seems to block or stop the effects of prayer
