Women aren't murdering their husbands as often?

1,348 American men were murdered by their wives in 1976.

That number has fallen and fallen every single year, and in 2004, only 385 American men were murdered by their wives.

How would you explain this phenomenon?

People can divorce these days, instead of staying in a violent marriage. I suppose that's one good thing about modern society, but I do find it sad that divorce is seen as a commodity, especially when a couple has children. The meaning of true love also seems to have vanished and men and women view one another as disposable and people are extremely selfish.

I do however support anyone being able to walk away from a violent partner and this was the main flaw I would have put right in past times.

I think your answer was surprisingly fair given the degree to which you disagree with me. So BA for you it is.

I don't. I think a >70% drop is so extreme I find it hard to believe, no offense, intended. Could you provide a source for those figures, please?

I'm aware that divorce laws have become easier and that domestic violence has been taken more seriously with harder laws and greater enforcement and that there is more help for victims of domestic violence with greater awareness but I still think that a change from 1348 to 385 is an awful lot.

    Where are these stats from?

It is probably because divorce is not stigmatized now, so she just walks away.

It is also because violent crime is dropping, in general, nationwide. So maybe some would-be offenders are already incarcerated.

Isn't it obvious that it's because of the Feminism? And the fact that women actually have the right to leave their husbands.

I guess because it was more socially acceptable to file for divorce instead of doing something that drastic?
