What are some motivators that help you make choices?

...for any decisions. What tools has God used to keep you from sinning?

Additional Details

No Chance Without Jesus: Holy Spirit leads; awesome. Sometimes, perhaps way more than we suppose, God gives us even more free choice. Like you've got a choice between "good, and really good". You not only have the two okay choices but it's up to you to pick the really good choice.

Old Dude & everyone else: What about fear; how much of a motivator can we use "fear of God" as a motivator... isn't some of that called "wisdom"?

Praising God; thanks Pamela... a reminder in praying concerning decisions to praise

When I was 20 a friend of a friend said that he'd had sex with a girl the night she got married. I felt fear as one would being close to a brick oven. I felt like people just don't do that and there not be consequences and live. I witnessed to him and I don't know what the response was. Just after that, a night or two later I was again in the car with him and he went from 70mph to 0 hitting an embankment. It was my side of the car that got crumpled to the windshield, but he died; his chest crushed against the steering wheel.

Fear means respect and Honor, not chills up your spine and your frozen in your foot steps. Motivators to make righteous decisions always comes from Gods Teachings and our whole life after we have given it back to God, only walks like Christ walked and Loves and Forgives as Christ did.If we could just keep Love and Forgiveness in front of our eyes daily..This would be a good start.

    I am faaaaaaaaaar from perfect
but I have found that when I seek to please God first-
instead of myself or the world-
I am less likely to sin

when I listen and obey the Holy Spirit in my heart-
when I want to make Him proud of me instead of just trying to please myself-
when I allow His Spirit to rule me instead of just doing what I want-
    I don't sin- I can't sin
because seeking to please God is the opposite of rebelling against Him
    which is what sin is

when I praise God for who He is and what He has done-
His presence comes to invade and redeem my humble state
and any urge to sin melts away

the god man speaks of simply does not exist. Morals do not just monopolize humans. morals have been seen in many other species.

I make my choices by not believing there is a god. I can think for myself unlike those religious morons.
