Why does minecraft lag so much on my new computer?

Its not technically a "new" computer per-say, I've had it for a while now, and its quite an upgrade compared to what I used to have. I used to be able to run the game perfectly fine and quite fast on my old computer and it wasn't that great. But recently I've gotten a new computer and I'm very happy with it because its a great upgrade from my old one. I tried reinstalling Minecraft to play it and it runs horribly, even with everything turned to the lowest settings it is still very laggy. The only thing I can see being a problem is the fact that I don't have my graphics card in yet because its freaking huge, and covers up several SATA cable ports I need. But still, the on-board graphics are a big upgrade from what i had before as well. I've already tried updating my drivers, etc. to no avail, still runs the same. I was wondering if someone here would be able to tell me if I'm missing something completely obvious or if there is an easy fix to my problem. Thanks

Your new computer probably has integrated graphics, and your old computer probably had a dedicated graphics card.

Dedicated is always better than integrated/shared.
