So to make a long story short i traded a guy music equipment for a dog and now 2 weeks later he wants the dog back and hes asking me for 500$ or hes taking me gto court. I have texts proving the trade. He omly knoes my cell nber not my name will this stand in court?.. im worried and being harrassed.. is there a way i can avoid all this without giving the dog back... because i also searched up info on him and he is involved in backyard breeding. He is not a nice man! Help :(

Make a report at your local police station so they are aware there is a problem. This will help if anything does happen.
Next time he contacts you, let him know you've told the police but wont be pressing charges yet. He sounds pretty shady so I'm sure that alone will scare him off.
Make a copy of your texts...download them onto your computer. They are great evidence. Have you ever watched Judge Judy? lol

He is trying to scare you. I know you're freaking out but just remember he wont ever take you to court, he's just using it as a threat.

Be strong and good luck :)

That's the trouble with black market or 'iffy' deals without proper records and paperwork, nobody really has a leg to stand on.

You need to tell us why he's asking you for $500? Was the music equipment no good or not as described? If he gets the dog back and you get the music equipment surely the deal would be reversed?

However, Black Market and druggy people don't usually threaten court as they are not able to disclose information without incriminating themselves. If you are being threatened then you need to involve a lawyer or the police.

Same question (there's no point repeating over and over), same answer

"Why on earth didn't you GET IT IN WRITING!!! Now you are basically stuffed - although frankly I'd call his bluff. If you had a witness when goods were exchanged, I'd suggest you are in a strong position should be come at you with a Court case, which frankly I doubt he's going to. If he's harassing you, speak to the police. It may take a restraining order to be put in place to convince him to push off. He may already be known to the police for his activities."

The Texts should protect you, however you need more help than you can get here. No matter what the law says, if this nut wants his dog back no court is going to keep him from finding you.
Take all your information to a lawyer and then get a protection order from the court.

Aww I'm so sorry :( like even if he takes you to court they won't do anything bad cuz it's his problem and he shouldn't of given them to you if he needed them back. I think you should ask him why he needs them back and if a problem starts to come upon it just tell him you handed the dogs over to me so their mine now. Sorry your going through this hoped this helped

dont worry, if it carries on like this and he really wants the dog back, just call an animal rescue service like the Dogs Trust. they will look after the dog so you dont need to worry about the dog, or tell someone you trust about it. they will help you.

Change your number. It'll be ok, tell someone and make sure your dog is in good security at all times, if he knows where you stay. He might just be trying to scare you.

You have the right to keep the dog. Unless he has papers proving otherwise, your texts will serve as written evidence. If you have a text stating, "Ok, it's a deal, thanks for the music equipment", that's even better. If he doesn't know where you live or your name, keep it that way. He can't do anything unless he knows where to go. If he ever shows up at your house, you can call the police and say he's harassing you. Asking both for his dog back AND money proves he's up to no good. He probably tried to scam you and thought a pet dog would be easy to guilt someone into giving back.

You're doing the right thing, trying to keep the dog out of a backyard breeding situation. Bring that up in court (if you end up there) as a reason he is unfit to keep the dog. Even in the event that he has evidence that he should own it, a judge may decide he's unfit to keep the dog in any circumstance, and that the animal is better off re-homed with you.

Good luck... I truly hope you get to keep your buddy.
