Officially, he's dead. The manga author has publicly said so.

However, C.C.'s little speech in the cart, and how she looks at the cart driver at the end of it suggests Lelouch survived somehow.

Ultimately, though, this doesn't make much sense. While the medical technology in the show is indeed advanced, he certainly wouldn't have gotten it anytime soon, since almost everyone left at the scene would have wanted him dead. So to survive, he'd have to have gotten a Code. Did he?

In order for that to happen, you have to enter into a Geass Contract, and then kill the person who you made the contract with. The only chance for this for Lelouch would be with Charles. However, there are two issues I see with this. Firstly, Lelouch didn't really kill Charles, the collective consciousness of all mankind did. Secondly, nothnig Lelouch and Charles ever say to each other seems like any sort of Geass Contract. If they had entered into a Geass Contract, shouldn't Lelouch have gained a new Geass? The second eye thing only indicates that his Geass grew in power, something that wouldn't be unique to this situation, since we already saw this happen to Mao without entering a second Geass Contract.

Then, you would have to further conclude that the Zero Requiem deal that Lelouch and Suzaku made was not a Geass Contract. It certainly has more the feel of a contract, though there's no indication that Suzaku gained a Geass power.

    They left it open ended so that viewers could think whatever they wanted.

    However I personally think hes alive, since A: He couldve gotten immortality from killing his father, B: he couldve just faked his death, and still brought about world peace, and Lelouche dosnt seem like the kind of guy who would martyr himself when he didnt have to. C: Lelouche never fulfilled his promise to C2, and I dont think she wouldve sat back and let him run off and kill himself. D: In the manga, Lelouche survives and E: there is the "bonus scene" where it actually shows Lelouche diving the carriage. Ive seen it on youtube....but Im actually not sure if its real or not

    Anyways thats just what I think, but some people like the show better by thinking he died, and the mysterious ending lets them think whatever they want, which is why it was made that way.

    People have been debating about Lelouch being dead or not. All I can say is, unless there's no new manga for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, then he IS dead.

    There is a new upcoming season of Code Geass. But this is a different one. New characters and new plot. But same timeline.
    It's called Code Geass: Gaiden

    If you have the time, check out some of the videos I'll be posting about Code Geass here;

    Hope I helped :) !

    Depends what you want to think. Some people think lelouche is dead for whatever reasons while others believe that he is alive for different reasons.
    Personally, I believe Lelouche is alive.

    There's no official, unambiguous statement on this yet. Personally I prefer to think that Lelouch survived; it seems unlikely he would pull something like that without an escape plan.
