Caring for a baby possum?
I found a baby possum on my garden lawn. I mistaked it for a baby rat so i picked it up with thick gloves and brought it in a bucket. I did not know what to do with it but its mother wasn't anywhere to be seen. So i put it in my old large rat cage. Where it could do some climbing and exploring while i find out what to do with it. I found out they eat fruit so i give it lots of different fruits to keep it healthy and taught it how to drink out of the water bottle but i still dint know what to do with it. Possums do not live in england and I'm scared it will die incase of snow. So I am keeping it for now until summer. Does anyone know what Pussums like? aka foods, habbits, needs. I know its cruel to keep it but it might die if I left it. I have had it for 4 days now and he seems quite happy. Also is there any health risks to me and the animal?

All I know is that they carry MANY diseases that can be fatal to humans. You need to give it to animal control or release it. They are very dangerous, if they bite or scratch you, you could end up in the hospital with a life threatening disease. Just get rid of it...
