Where should i go to rent to own a home?

i am looking to rent-to-own a house in Los Angeles. i am not sure where to go with it. there are many websites or it, but i am not sure which arescams or not. or should i go through a real estate agent?
DOes anyone have a recomendation for an agent in Los Angeles who handles rent-to-own?

    Rent to own (also known as lease option) is almost never a good deal for the buyer.

    If you don't have the down payment or can't qualify for a loan at this time there is no way to be sure you will be able to qualify at the end of the option, and the you will have lost any earnest money and rent (higher than normal) that you have invested.

    Better to rent someplace that allows you to save your excess disposable income towards a down payment.

    Live below your means for a few years and buy a house when you are ready financially.
