Can I get a reality check?
I'm a 16 year old boy. I kinda have some issues.
But right now, my problem is that nothing feels real. For the past while, everything has felt dreamy. Not exactly in the good way, but it feels like whatever happens isn't happening and doesn't matter. I realize this but the feeling won't go away.
This means I don't think before I do things, so I end up messing a lot of stuff up.
What can I do to snap out of this?

I feel like this all the time and at times I want 'reality' to go away. Since my career involves a lot of fantasy, its great for it but for my environment it wasn't. At times when I am driving, I end up driving faster or I am cooking for me and my roommate, I almost/ do burn our food when I forget about reality. As long as your not endangering someone, especially yourself, I think its a problem you can solve inside your brain or talking it out with someone that won't judge you on it.
Okay Will if you want something to go away you have to embrace it and face it dead on. People will tell you its a mental problem and hand you a bottle of pills to solve it. Trust me those pills kill who you are so don't take them that's for sure. It happens to be when I have taken reality far too seriously for so long. You need a happy medium. Your brain is most likely switching its mental patterns, especially at your age when hormones are being fixed as well, too much for the brain and its shutting down to that point.
Oh I am in my 20's now I've been like this since my early teen years if that helps. I am a writer and an actor so it happens to me when I try to shut out reality for a bit too long or I take in reality too much. I tattooed "Remember" on my right wrist when I drift away; please do not tattoo yourself because I did so. I did so because I get confuse with my left and rights when I drive. What I am saying is you need a reminder that will bring you to your happy medium. Like something that will have you want to come back to reality.
hope that kind of helped.
P.S. the Hindus believe we are stuck in a dream like world in order to solve what we have to, to move on so I thought I would be a cool fact to know.

- Thank you so much. It's always great to hear it from someone who's experienced it at this intensity. :)
Oh, and just saying, "Remember" sounds like a cool wrist tattoo.

You may have to push yourself into doing things. Make it into a challange to see how far you can go. This feeling may not seem so bad because you could look at life like a dream and do and get as far as you want in life. A other way you might be able to get rid of this feeling may be to have a really scary dream that will make you realize that where your at is real and not a dream. To have a scary dream watch ,read ,and lison to multipul scary things because your brain processes what happens that day by dreaming. Hope this helps.

Try getting more rest, drink more water, and do something that's fun for you. What you're describing may be symptom of stress in your life.
Though I do need to add this comment: make the most of what you're feeling right now. That dream like feeling can add a lot of creativity to you. Try writing, painting, singing, something artistic. There are so many great books and movies about dream like meanings. Good luck.

Sometimes everyone can feel like that. First of all, if your out partying and doing drugs, you might want to cut cold turkey. Its not healthy. Second, try some physical activities, and reading the bible really helps. And it sounds like you might have some depression? Ask some help from your parents or counselor. And when you wake up every morning, look in the mirror and give yourself a compliment. Just work at it, and you'll start to feel better.

Happens to lots of us. One common reason is lack of sleep. Missing an hour here and there can add up and affect how your mind perceives the environment around you.
