He has genital herpes & gives me oral sex.?
A guy I'm sort of seeing told me he has genital herpes. He told me after I had somewhat come into contact with his penis. I went to the doctor and got a blood test after experiencing the flu-like symptoms and it came back negative. However, I have had a small bump on my lip and I wasn't sure if I was just freaking out or what. Since he is the only person I've kissed I asked him if he could possibly have oral herpes? He told me he didn't have oral herpes, but I am still wondering if he could possibly have oral herpes as well and not know it? He gives me oral sex and I know that HSV1 can turn into HSV2 that way, so should I believe that he doesn't have oral herpes and only genital herpes or should I leave him alone? The whole situation itself is risky, which is why I don't touch his penis or come into contact with his genitals...I just need some clarity on the situation.

HSV1 CANNOT turn into HSV2. They're two different strains of the virus and people usually only have one or the other, not both. It's rare for genital herpes to infect the oral cavity and it is rare for oral herpes to be passed to the genitals (but this is not impossible). 90% of people already carry the herpes simplex virus from childhood and show no signs or symptoms because they have a strong immune system. This provides good immunity as adults. You can continue to have sex with him so long as he is taking antiviral medications such as Valaciclovir and isn't touching you when he has active lesions. I would also advise a condom, but they're not 100% effective in preventing transmission of genital herpes.

- Thanks. We don't have sex & I don't plan on having sex with him in the future either.

None of these answers are right..
Just because he have herpes doesn't mean he will 100% pass it if he doesn't have bumps active!! And just because he have herpes 2 doesn't mean he have 1 so in order to know tell him to get blood tests.. its common for hsv1 90% people have it..
He should have been honest with you from the start but ask him when was the last time he had an outbreak if not lately he may never have another some people Immue system keeps its under control.
