Because you can't learn everything, yet in order to choose what to learn, much material must be evaluated in a fairly shallow manner.

Now both teachers and students have to teach and learn already in primary and secondary education how to critically evaluate and compare online sources, instead of waiting to teach and learn those skills until after high school.
