No, you can't even install the RAM. DDR2 to DDR3 is not upgrade, these are different configuration. The RAM upgrade is the size of the RAM, if you have 32bit OS, you have max out the RAM (3G), if you have 64 bit OS,you can upgrade the RAM to 6 or 8 GB or above... By the way, the speed of the Motherboard accessing RAM is set, faster RAM will not help you.

sorry but no. ddr3 is faster, but a computer can only use 1 type. the only way to change what type you computer uses is by replacing the motherboard, and sometimes the cpu aswell. they are just set up diffrently, ect. and a motherboard will not be able to use more then 1 type of ram. i dont just mean it will not fit in the motherboard, it will not be able to use it if you could get it to fit.
you most likely will not notice much of a diffrence if you did change. you can try to get higher speed ddr2 ram assuming your not at your motherboards ram speed limit.

DDR3 ram can only be compatible on specific chipset motherboards and processors ... i think chipset G45 and above can support DDr3 RAM with T6x00 processor coz my one of the friend has bought with same config in 2GB DDR3 ram ...well if we talk generally , there's very less difference in speed between DDr2 and DDr3 RAM by human recognition but there's a level above in performance in both and ie. in prefetch buffer length !

short answer no, and it wont make a different, its the speed of the ram (500mhz, 800mhz ect) but ddr2 and ddr3 are different ports for the ram, the little, ill call it a dip, or empty space you see on the pins of the ram when you take it out will be in a different place.

nope you cant change to ddr3, because it's a incompatable memory type for your board, it probably wouldnt even fit because of the notche's and pin locations.

no
never.
beside DDR 3 is a dead horse!
the issue is the SPEED of the ram (mhz) and the amount (gb),
the data rate can NOT be changed.

The Ram slots are different. You wont be able to insert it. 4GB is still 4GB either way.
