Can you please help me with my math home work?

a motorist made a journey of 146km. he drove for 2 hours in daylight, then for 11/2 hours in darkness. at an average speed reduce from daylight speed. using x km/h for his daylight speed write down expression for the distances covered in daylight and darkness. form an equation in x and solve it. hence, find its speed in daylight . how far he drove in the dark.

your problem does not give enough information to solve it.

all you can do is:

2x + 3/2x = 142

4x + 3x = 284

7x = 284

x = 40.571km/hr
The speed is the same night or day.

3/2x = 60.8565 km dark distance
