How do I go back to Internet Explorer 6, if I have already installed IE7?

Question

I have 2 computers, one runs XP and the other Vista. They both are running IE7, but it's causing compatibility problems with other programs I need to run. How can I get both computers back to IE6?

In XP you can uninstall IE7 in add/remove and you'll have IE6 again.
After you uninstall Internet Explorer 7, double-click the Internet Explorer icon to verify that Internet Explorer 6 is restored.

just download ie6 and install it lol you might have to uninstall ie7 first

IE7 is the default explorer for Vista, you can not run IE6 on Vista.

For XP, however, head to:

Start > Run > appwiz.cpl

(Shortcut to the Add/Remove programs applet).

Then just uninstall IE7 as you would any other program. Uninstalling IE7 will automatically revert you back to IE6 on XP.

and download the version you want.

Unfortunately, IEradicator (the software I would normally recommend for this) isn't guaranteed to remove IE 7 because of the slightly different installation procedure used with the newer version.
You could try removing it from both systems manually (but this is a hit and miss solution and involves mucking about in the registry). My recommendation would therefore be to try and ignore IE7 on both systems, by switching to an alternative browser. There are literally HUNDREDS of them out there, from lookalike IE (Maxthon etc) to total departures (Firefox, Opera etc)
