No. Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dog, but no "teacup" dogs exist. It's not a breed, they're just advertised as being special because they're so small, but being a non-standard size is very risky.

I can tell you first hand that "teacup" is just another way of calling a tiny chihuahua super tiny, also called micros and micro minis. I own a chihuahua and she is 9 months old and just under 16 oz. She has been a lot of work; with pancreatis that was misdiagnosed for months by two vets.

    They don't exist.

Teacup is just a marketing term used by unscrupulous breeders to get people to pay extra for undersized, unhealthy dogs. Avoid ANYONE who sells "teacup" anything.

There are unethical backyard breeders claiming "teacup" on their dogs, but in reality, these are dogs that are not within the breed standard and should not be bred in the first place. The only ones you will find selling these tiny dogs are those doing it for profit and not taking health into consideration at all. I would not buy one of these advertised to be small. It's a vet bill waiting to happen.

A Chihuahua is the smallest dog. No such things as a "Teacup". It's just a name breeders use to make the runt of the litter sound more alluring, but in reality, they are more sickly and usually cost a bundle in vet care.

chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dog except for the teacup yorkie which is a freak. teacup yorkies only weigh about 800g and often die after birth. they are not up for everyday lives as their bones break easily and need special food and stuff.

teacup yorkies r not an offical breed but the smallest offical breed is the chihuahua and after that the yorkshire terrier.

"Teacup" dogs do not exist. It's a fancy term slapped onto tiny puppies by irresponsible breeders to sell for big bucks. These tiny, tiny puppies are very fragile, should not be placed in a home with children, and are often riddled with future health problems.

I'm honestly sick of seeing everyone wanting the smallest dog. Do you have any idea how much care these small dogs need? Why would you want to dish out thousands for a small dog, then dish out another thousand for the vet bills because you failed to research and realize teacups don't exist?

First, ask the shelter...the smaller the dog...the
HARDER TO HOUSEBREAK and the MORE LIkELY TO GET SICK AND HAVE HEALTH PROBLEMS>

Those toy breeders? That is why they charge so much. Becuase out of a litter of lets say...ten...one or two survive. Man alters the pups,,,trying for the smallest. So many die from hearts or lungs that are too small etc. These health problems contine through the dogs life, if it lives past birth.

Also, how often do you see these wee little dogs? Never. Because they are so sickly and fragile.

Get a small, healthy dog. Not a 'toy' manufactured to be small. Also, lots of folks buy over the internet only to find their 'toy dog' grows to the same size as a regular yorkie etc.

they do not exist. "teacup" is not a recognized size. Its only a label used by back yard breeders and puppy mills to sell undersized, unhealthy runt puppies. Many of these breeds are already tiny enough if they fit their breeds standard.

Here are the breeds sizes, according to AKC standards:

Chihuahuas are 6 pounds or less

Poodles are 10 inches or under at the shoulder

Poms are 3 to 7 pounds, with the ideal weight being 4 to 6 pounds.

Yorkies are 7 pounds and under.

Maltese under 7 pounds, 4 to 6 pounds preferred.

Shih Tzus Ideally, height at withers is 9 to 10½ inches; but, not less than 8 inches nor more than 11 inches. Ideally, weight of mature dogs, 9 to 16 pounds

Chihuahua is the smallest breed. According to AKC, there is only size for Chihuahua. So Teacups don't exist. It's just a cute name setup by backyard breeders for runts so they can sell for more money.
