Trying to get my daughter off the sippy cup?

My daughter is almost 3 and I am trying to get her off the sippy cup. Do those kids cups with the straws already in them count as a big kid cup or is it still a sippy cup.(you know those straw cups you get at the store in the baby section with the sippy cups, bottles etc.?)

My daughter, fortunately, was very easy to do. Mostly because she saw her two cousins drinking from cups. So, what I did was still used her sippy cups just without the top part, so it was still HER sippy cup just now turned into a big girl cup. Plus, I found that when you take something out of sight from them and say either "they all broke so I HAD to throw them away" or "I don't know where they went, I can't find them"....they cry for like a day and then they get over it.

My little brother just turned four and he is still on a sippy cup but he is doing fine going to a regular cup when he wants. but if you really want yours to switch the cup with straw does and doesn't count as a sippy cup but it is the next step up so if you keep going on until she is finally to a regular cup.

They are pretty much the same. I think you would be surprised at how well your daughter does off the sippy cup. I recommend giving her some water in her sippy cup without the top on. Know that she will spill some so dont get upset just offer suggestions that might help her. If you are using sippy cups with plugs in them that make her have to suck hard to get the liquid out, I recommend taking the plugs out and having her use the cup without them before taking the lid off.

The straw ones are good. they keep liquid off the teeth better than regular sippy cups. I think my son was 4 when he quit using a sippy cup.

i went straight from a bottle to a sippy cup and only use it for about a week cause i than bought the cup with the straw in it, it took him a day to understand to suck from the straw but once he new what to do it was good, cause than it was easier to teach him to drink from a pop top...
