Withdrawal symptoms have been reported with abrupt or rapid discontinuation of short-acting SSRIs (e.g., sertraline-ZOLOFT). However, the manufacturer has reported that abrupt withdrawal of fluoxetine has also been associated with adverse CNS effects, including but not limited to dysphoric mood, irritability, agitation, dizziness, paresthesias, and headache.
