There are several reasons to have steriod injections - different types of steriods for treatment of very differing things. Just because you say the term steriods, you could either mean for physical enhancement, which would be problematic at best to do and illegal at worst for competitions; or the type of steriod you get in an epidural or in a pill form which is like prednisone (one in particular), which is not at all like the other. Prednisone is used to treat people with several different types of diseases, and certainly not to be confused with physically enhancing steriodal applications. It wont do that. Prednisone is more of a treatment for inflammation, viral infection, etc.. and should only be used under a doctor's care...
If you need answers on Prednisone, Google it, same with Epidurals - although your doctor will give you all those answers if you happen to need one (or a series of them) which are NOT to be taken lightly. They will, over time, deteriorate your bone tissue structure given in such concentrated doses in specific locations. Any Orthopedic/Neurological doctor will let you know why you need one or might benefit from one.
